Unlike most covered bridges, which are painted red, the Loux Covered Bridge is painted white. The portals are curved. It crosses Cabin Creek in a valley, which forces Carversville Road (also called Wismer Road) to make some hairpin turns in the vicinity of the bridge.
"Located on Wismer Road in Plumstead Township the Loux Covered Bridge was constructed of Hemlock in 1874. Both the Cabin Run Covered Bridge and the Loux Covered Bridge cross Cabin Run Creek. Known as a dangerous place to ford, the drowning of Reed Myers, a popular young man led to the construction of the 'Loux Mill Bridge.' Height Limit: 11 ft; Width: 15 ft; Weight Limit: 15 tons; Length: 60 ft."

It can support so much weight for a covered bridge because the underside has been reinforced with steel beams.
There are all sorts of unique things about this bridge - made of Hemlock, painted White, and the steel beams.
