There are many things to do and see at Lake Tahoe. The lake itself is a freshwater lake in the Sierra Nevada mountains. Its located along the border between California and Nevada. Lake Tahoe is the largest alpine lake in North America. It's also the second deepest in the United States.

For the adventurous types, there's skiing at the Heavenly Resort (on the California side) Lift tickets cost about $80 for the day. For the skiing challenged, you can take the Heavenly Gondola up the mountain for $30 per person. Don't forget to stop at the mid station for a great view of the lake and its surrounding.

For another type of adventure, try the casinos in Stateline, NV. There are 4 casinos here. The most famous are Harveys and Harrah's.

You can also walk along the lake. South Lake Tahoe, the only incorporated city in the region, has some nice parks and beaches along the lake.
