Julius Benedict was a German born conductor and composer.

Having been active in Germany and Italy, he moved to London in 1835. As well as operatic works, he wrote a symphony, first performed in 1873, and was very active in the musical life of Britain at the time. He accompanied Jenny Lind on a musical tour of the United States as pianist and conductor in 1850. [1,2]
