Former Texas and New Orleans Railroad (T&NO) Caboose renumbered to Southern Pacific #444 when the T&NO was merged with its parent company in 1961.

This is a Southern Pacific C-30-5 type caboose. They were built by Southern Pacific from parts supplied by AC&F, in 1949. They were numbered as SP #1270-1319 and T&NO #515-544. In 1961 T&NO was integrated into SP and the former T&NO units were renumbered into vacant slots in SP's #420-464 series.

This photo found at the Railroad Pictures Archive website shows SP #444 while it was still in active service in New Iberia, Iowa.

Another caboose that was once located here as well has been moved, reportedly to a KOA campground near North Bend.

Current Use:
Used as a restaurant and coffee shop. Fat Tuesdays Mardi Gras Grill
