Located in eastern Day County, South Dakota, Waubay has a population of 585 as of July 2008, a decrease of about 12% in population from the 2000 census.
German, Norwegian, Polish, Irish, French and Swedish immigrants settled the area and the town was incorporated on February 18, 1895.
Located along the south shore of Blue Dog Lake, this community is in the center of some of the best hunting and fishing in the Upper Midwest.
The Legion post is very involved in local activites and is an integral part of the community. A hall and lounge are part of this post and the hall can be rented by contacting management at 605-947-4376.
The membership goal for this post for 2010 is 106. It is part of District 4 and is the 5th largest out of the 19 posts. In Day County, it is the 2nd largest post, behind Webster Post 40.
