The state of Michigan Historic Preservation website at (visit link) tells us:
"The Joseph Hall House is a relatively modest, two-story, red brick, L-plan, Italianate structure with a square tower in the angle between the two short arms of the L. The house's widely projecting eaves display simple paired brackets and the window openings have segmental arch heads without caps. In the tower, however, windows below the eaves have round heads and corbelled brick caps. A hip-roof, bungalow-style, brick-pier porch extends across the front and around part of one side.

The Hall House is significant among Tecumseh's numerous Italianate houses for its modest size and its irregular, towered form, which adds visual drama to a street of otherwise simple and ordinary structures. The house is also significant as a well preserved work of Tecumseh's leading architect/contractor of the 1865 to 1900 period, Salmon Crane. The house was built about 1870 for Joseph E. Hall, a local jeweler who also built organs and seraphines. The Halls lived here until 1882."
