Built in 1872, the Teller House Hotel was one of the finest hotels west of the Mississippi at the time. While is now serves as a restaurant and tourist attraction, the following plaque reminds us of technology in boom towns. The plaque reads:
The first telephone in Central City installed September 24, 1879 in the rear of this building, then the Rocky Mountain National Bank. It connected with telephones in Blackhawk, Golden and Denver.
