Known by the locals as "The Rez" the Ross R. Barnett Reservoir is a 33,000-acre reservoir on the Pearl River Northeast of Jackson. Named for Ross Barnett, the 52nd Governor of Mississippi, it was created by impounding the Pearl between Madison County and Rankin County. It has 105 miles of shoreline and is bounded on the west by the historic Natchez Trace.

The reservoir is managed by the Pearl River Valley Water Supply District.
