This projecting bracket was used during the Second geodetic levelling, England & Wales, and was levelled with a height of 79.0730 feet [24.1015 metres] above mean sea level (Newlyn datum). It was included on the Fareham to Winchester levelling line. The surveyor's description was Bracket on end of battlement of railway bridge over road to Mayles Farm.
