This building was constructed as a gas station in 1921. Today, it is a visitors center for Ogallala, Nebraska giving out information for the surrounding area.

In 1920, the Standard Oil Company started opening up gas stations in Nebraska. The 1920's was a period of growth. In 1919 the first four stores were opened in western Nebraska. By 1930, over 150 stores had been openned.
This brick building with a white canopy roof, looks much the same as it did when it was constructed. Today, it houses a tourist information stand. You can find information on the town of Ogallala, and throughout the region.
