RC1047 - USCGS P274, Washington - U.S. Benchmarks on Waymarking.com

This benchmark is located along Wash. Hwy. 142 about 1.85 miles northeast of Klickitat, Washington, just before MP 15. The cap is set on a 3.5 inch pipe which rises about 12 inches above ground about 40 feet SE of highway centerline. The cap was set by the U.S. Coast & Geodetic Survey in 1946 and was marked P274.

DESCRIBED BY NATIONAL GEODETIC SURVEY 1968. MARK IS 1.85 MILES NORTHEAST ALONG STATE HIGHWAY 142 FROM THE KLICKITAT POST OFFICE, AT A Y INTERSECTION WHERE A GRAVEL ROAD BEARS RIGHT, 42 FEET SOUTHEAST OF THE CENTERLINE OF THE HIGHWAY, 24 FEET SOUTHEAST OF THE CENTER OF THE GRAVEL ROAD, 21 FEET EAST OF A POWER POLE, 3 FEET NORTH OF THE SOUTH END OF A FILL. A STANDARD DISK ON A 3 1/2-INCH PIPE WHICH PROJECTS 10 INCHES. A METAL WITNESS POST WAS SET SIX INCHES SOUTHEAST OF THE MARK.
