The "Zentral- und Hochschulbibliothek" is the largest library in Central Switzerland. It was founded 1951 as a merger of Bürgerbibliothek (1812-) and Kantonsbibliothek (1832-).
The library also owns a collection of valuable historic books and graphics dating back the the Middle Ages.
