From the guidebook:
Left from Rim Village on a foot trail to the beautiful LADY OF THE WOODS, 0.4 m., a carved stone figure.
---Oregon: End of the Trail
The Lady of the Woods is actually located behind the Steele Visitor Center at Park Headquarters (not at Rim Village as description above implies) in Crater Lake National Park. The Lady is a nude body draped over a huge rock. The Lady was carved in 1917, by Dr. Earl Russell Bush, a physician with the U.S. Health Bureau, who was attached to the U.S. Engineers who were building roads in the park. The Lady was carved over a two week period in October just before the nearby construction camp closed for the winter. (From NPS handout) Additional info on NPS website
