St. Philip In The Field Episcopal Church - Sedalia, Colorado - posted by boB B giB

In 1872, residents of West Plum Creek Valley raise funds and build the church structure. After raising over $600 to complete and furnish the sanctuary, a man named Lambert, posing as a minister, runs off with the money. Not to be daunted, the community comes together and donates time and money to complete the church. The church was originally nondenominational, and Methodist Circuit Riders came to hold services, and other visiting ministers preached there as well. After the church was purchased by the Episcopalian's, the church was consecrated on November 5, 1889, given the name St. Philip in the Field.

St. Philip's has remained very much the same as it was in 1889. In 2002, the building was restored and rededicated with a new roof, new siding, and a new foundation.
