It's a park where people come for the rock collecting, but often end up marveling at the great views of the scenery and depending on the the time of the year, the wildflowers to be found there. For those that want more than just a quick trip, the Park also has a campground.
Different from most national and state parks where removing natural objects is prohibited, at Rockhound visitors are actually encouraged to prospect and remove specimens, subject only to a 15 pound weight limit.
