This modern firehouse is located close to Chapel Hill's "downtown" and the campus of the University of North Carolina. At least one of the trucks operating out of this station is painted Carolina blue in honor of UNC.

As with several other firehouses in Chapel Hill, there is a fire fighting abstract sculpture in front of Station 1.
