One mile of paved trail and 1.5 miles of a shell rock trail wind through the Okeeheelee Nature Center, a 100-acre area located within the 1000-acre Okeeheelee Park in Palm Beach County. The surrounding parklands were created out of land once mined for shell rock, so the focus of the nature center is restoration of the native pine uplands. The nature center offers regular natural history programs.

Watchable Wildlife:
Check the wetlands along the East Marsh Trail for coot, common moorhen, ring-necked duck, blue-winged and green-winged teal, pied-billed grebe and wood duck. Scan overhead for red-tailed hawks and ospreys. Gopher tortoises and their burrows are located along the pine trail.
Marvel at our birds of prey, touch a live snake or prowl for owls

Admission to Okeeheelee Nature Center and the nature trails is FREE. Program fees vary. The nature center and nature trails are ADA accessible.

OBSERVATION ROOM
Live animal exhibits fill this peaceful room. Stroll along enjoying glimpses into the marine world, the mysterious realm of our snakes and be careful not to startle our feathered friends.

Don't forget to relax and enjoy nature at the viewing window; it overlooks bird feeders, a pond and our outdoor classroom.
