Kettletown State Park is open from dusk until dawn and as a kayak/canoe launching area with parking. There is no fee to enter the park.

The initial body of water is Lake Zoar which connects to the Housatanic River, which runs through central Connectivut.

Lake Zoar is very calm as is the Housatanic. There is not much current in the Housatanic but there are a lot of boaters who can make currents. Inexperienced people can paddle around Lake Zoar and enjoy the views. Moderately experienced people can venture up or down the Housatanic River. Although Kettletown Park runs along the river the only way to get back to your car is to come back to the Lake Zoar launch.

There are also plenty of water caches for those who enjoye Geocaching.
