Designed by the U.S Army Corp of Engineers, Waterbury Dam was constructed by over 2,000 men of the Civilian Conservation Corp (C.C.C.) between 1935-38 after the disasterous flood of 1927 killed 55 people and caused 13,000,000 in damages. The dam is of rolled earth fill type with a clay center with a length of 2130 ft and a maximum height of 187 ft. The dam produces 15,million kw hrs per year and has a reinforced spillway 153.5 ft long made up of 3 tainter gates.

To get there, take the Waterbury exit off the I 89 heading west to Waterbury (1/8 mi). Head NW along route 2 (1 mi) to the sign for Little River State Park. Follow road for 3 mi.
