Atop Beacon Hill, Hampshire, within a hillfort. The views from around the fort are stunning. The grave of Lord Carnarvon, one of the discoverers of the tomb of King Tutankhamun, is situated nearby.
The hill is signed from the northbound carriageway of the A34, but if you are heading south, you will need to leave the A34 at the Tot Hill junction and follow a road parallel to the A34 for about 2 and a half miles. From the car park, a stiff walk up a fairly steep and frequently muddy path will get you to the top.
