The former Wessels Home at 1601 E. 9th, on the then east edge of the York College campus, was donated to Wessels Living History Farm after the college had made several efforts to sell or otherwise dispose of the house. It was moved in 2002.

The house needed extensive restoration, as it had been used for practice fires by the local fire department. Those scars of its past experience are today woven into the explanation of farm life in the first quarter of the 20th Century, when portable kerosene heaters, kerosene lamps, and candles led to house fires.

Today it is fully restored, and shows what the home on a "prosperous farmstead" was like. Bedrooms show the "boys' bedroom," the "girls' bedroom," and "mom and dad's bedroom." Kitchen, dining and living room furnishings are authentic to the period. This prosperous home included a bathroom on the second floor along with the bedrooms.
