This marker was placed by the White Alloe Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution to mark a campsite used by the French-Canadian trapper and trader, named Pierre Alloe. He spent winters along this part of the Missouri river living in a dugout cave. The local Indians called him "White Alloe" and he was one of the first white settlers in this area.
