The ramp for Lake Michigamme at the east end is in Lake Michigamme State Park. You need a state park sticker or daily pass. Note park hours don't apply to the ramp. I asked the ranger on my way out.
Once you put in follow the shore line to get out of the bay the middle of that bay is a shallow flat.
