Born 22 July 1844 in London and died 29 August 1930. His headstone is in the cemetery on Pye Lane, Grasmere.
A spoonerism is where the initial letters or sounds of two words are swapped. eg par cark, spool scaying field or quear old deen. Many malapropisms are attributed to him are apocryphal.

His headstone is in three rows in from the path, third across.
