Ivan Fedorov (1520-1583) is considered to be the pioneer of Russian, Ukrainian and Belarussian printing. On March 1, 1564, he printed The Apostle, which is the first exactly dated Russian book.
In 1870, a statue by sculptor S.M.Volnuhin was placed in Teatralny Proezd, close to the former Printing Court at Nikolskaya St.
