There are two trails at this location that parallel each other from the same starting point to the destination.
There is the government sponsored route provided by the Department of Conservation that takes a walker through sheep filled paddocks that is mostly grass and a dirt track. It has a problem that a walker must avoid sheep dag — www.thefreedictionary.com/dag — lying about. This route is also closed through September and October due to lambing season. This route is free.
The second trail is a well groomed gravel path that a private property owner has built to keep people out of his paddocks that the DOC trail travels through. That is the focus of this waymark. This route is open year-round. To help maintain this route there is a $1/adult admission. Please use exact change at the honesty box at the carpark.
