Bridge allows for a pedestrian shortcut between the residential hill section and the business district.
A sign at either end says the bridge was rebuilt in 2003. It replaced a 1903 bridge further to the west which had been built by the Grand Trunk Railroad as part of the deal to increase the number of tracks and build the railroad station. There are only two tracks here now; at one time, there were thirteen.
In response to a problem with graffiti vandals, a video surveillance system keeps an eye on the interior of the bridge.
