Palo Cristi Presbyterian Church of Paradise Valley dedicated this Peace Pole on the grounds of the church during their services on Sunday, June 7, 2009.
From a posting in the local paper:
"Palo Cristi has been actively involved in peacemaking activities in Phoenix and throughout Arizona. Pastor Debra Avery said, “At Palo Cristi, the biblical mandate to be peacemakers is not something we leave for others to do. We have signed our denomination's Commitment to Peacemaking and have sought a variety of ways to make that commitment come alive. The Peace Pole is a visible sign of our commitment and our hope that one day, God's peace will truly come for all people.
The church's handmade redwood pole was installed to express the desire to see peace prevail between Israel and Palestinians, said Pastor Debra Avery."
