SGT Edmund Parry and Inspector O'Neil riding shot-gun on top of the mail coach when it was held up by the bushrangers Ben Hall, John Gilbert and John Dunn. In the ensuing battle Sargeant Parry was killed.
SGT Parry's grave is located at the Gundagai cemetery.
This monument was erected by the Wild Colonial Days Society and the Gundagai Historical Society on 16 Nov 1968.
