From the Virginia Dept of Conservation & Resources information sign, we learn that the Middle Fork is a darker brown due to silt being picked up from the farmland area, while the South Fork is clear due to coming through undeveloped forested lands. The Virginia Creeper Trail crosses right over the confluence on a long trestle bridge, thus the coordinates are over the water. This location is also for the Earthcache GC154CB "Convergence".
