This benchmark without a beacon is only about 25 metres from one of my caches so I couldn't resist trying to find it when checking the cache.
There is a cairn erected nearby to commemorate Major Mitchell's 1836 visit to survey the surrounding coastline.
More info on his visit can be found at (visit link)
Great coastal views including windmills and Cape Nelson Lighthouse.
The marker was under about 4 inches of sand when found.
Access is via a short walking track to the lookout, with the last 10 metres through the scrub.
