Hard Scrabble Falls is a magnificent waterfall that involves a significant physical challenge to view. Severe flooding in during the winter of 2008-2009 has washed out the trail to the base of the falls and deposited many log jams. Once at the base of the falls, only the bottom tier can be viewed. The middle and top tiers are only visible via a very steep trail that involves climbing 8 separate rope sections before you reach the top of the falls. Several remaining parts of the trail are hazardous enough that you will wish there were more ropes provided. It is a very good idea to bring gloves and additional rope, and you are strongly advised not to attempt climbing to the top alone.
