Prince, the giant sheep, is a fine wool Merino Ram. He is made of fibreglass and took 2 years to make. He stands at the entrance to the Agrodome Sheep Show and Farm Tour Park, on Western Road, Ngongotaha.

There are approximately two million Merino sheep farmed in New Zealand. The Merino originated in Spain and was introduced into NZ in the late 1700's. The Merino grows 3.5 to 5 kg of wool every year and the wool is 6.5 to 10cm long.
