The Tamms Depot was built in 1899 to serve the Chicago and Eastern Illinois Railroad. It also served as a depot for the Mobile & Ohio Railroad (which later became the Gulf, Mobile & Ohio). The depot had dispatchers from both railroad which worked in the same office. The depot was both a freight and passenger depot. Passenger service ceased from the depot in 1955 and the depot was boarded up. Over the years the building slowly deteriorated due to lack of care. The city of Tamms received ownership of the depot in 1982. The depot was restored in 1986 and now serves as city hall for Tamms.
