Statesman ~ Financier ~ Philanthropist
Born Aug. 4, 1823 ~ Died April 9, 1893

Founder and First Intendant (Mayor) of Easley, originally known as Holcombe Town, Jan. 1874. Near this site a Depot was built by him and given to the Railroad. He was the first Depot Agent and Telegraph Operator. In 1846 he became the first Postmaster in this area; he was for many years a Magistrate, a Legislator 1863-64, and a member of the early County Commissioners.
