Fine church located on 1st. St. in Amite. Parish has had a rich history from its creation in 1868.

Parish was assigned a priest in 1860. Parish created in 1868. In 1890 Benedictines were assinged to Parish. On April 24, 1908, a tornado destroyed church and killed the priest. Funds were raised and a new church was completed in 1910. This second church building was destroyed on April 6, 1940 by another tornado, which also destroyed the church hall and damaged the rectory. The third, and current church, was completed and dedicated on September 14, 1941. The Diocese of Baton Rouge took control of parish in July of 1991.
