ALSO "GENZAR," "GENESSAR," "GENEZIR" AND "GENEZER"
2200 ACRES" LAYING ON THE SEA BOARD SIDE IN BOQUETONORTON (POQADENORTON) HUNDRED" PATENED MAY 10, 1676, TO COL. WILLIAM STEVENS, AND ON JANUARY 10, 1679, TO CHARLES RATCLIFFE. BRICK HOUSE BELIEVED BUILT IN 1732 BY MAJ. JOHN PURNELL. DURING THE REVOLUTION, ZADOK PURNELL WAS ARTHORIZED TO BUILD A BATTERY NEAR HERE TO REPEL POSSIBLE ATTACKS FROM BRITISH SHIPS IN SINEPUXENT BAY.
