When the Davy Crockett Monument came up on the radar (map) as we were driving
through Texas, I told Leah we needed to stop and pay our
respects. We parked and visited the Crockett County
Courthouse, walked through the park, and even strolled down the street a block
or two admiring some of the old buildings (and plethora of Historical
Markers). In my youth I knew every verse of this song, even
had a coonskin cap... and I admit that I did bust out in a pretty bad
rendition of the ditty as we stood in front of this statue of one of my
childhood heros.
