El puente de Castrovido, aunque restaurado en épocas posteriores, tiene su origen en la época de dominación romana, cuando formó parte de la vía que unía Clunia, una de las ciudades más importantes del norte peninsular, con Tritium Magallum, la actual Tricio, en La Rioja.
