There has been a Manor House on this site since 1274. This was when the original chief manor was owned by Adam de Creting and the Wauton families. They remained in the house for four centuries with the house surviving a siege in 1624 within its double moated enclosure.
Unfortunately the house fell into disrepair in 1705 eventually becoming ruined. It was after this in the early 18th century that the house we see today was originally built. This was built as the Manor House to the Rectory of the church in the village. It was later rebuilt but the stables survive as part of the residence dating back to the 18th century.
When we visited the lambs were jumping around and nearby the 16th century Garden Farm resides.
