The museum occupies the old customs house which was designed by Richard Gillow (very famous designer of furniture and buildings who came from Lancaster) and completed in 1764 for the port commission.
It documents all the rich heritage that the sea has brought to Lancaster from the slave trade ships through to the Morecambe bay fisher people that still earn a living here.
You could certainly pass a few hours here on a wet day. Or even a dry day.
