Landcross Tunnel carried the former railway line from Barnstaple to Torrington. The line opened in 1855 but closed to passengers in 1965 & finally to freight in 1982.

It is now used as part of the 180 mile cycle trail/footpath known as the Tarka Trail. It is lit & has a good surface.
