Working men & women throughout Oregon's
south coast followed Henry and his dream
of a community college for the children of
organized labor. Petitions were circulated
-- and signed. His energy and the effort of
organized labor led to the creation of
Southwestern Oregon Community College
-- the first community college in Oregon
operated under a statewide system.

Southwestern Oregon Community College
was established by the vot of the people
on May 1, 1961.
