Mount Noorat, a unique, geological formation is one of the best preserved volcanoes in Victoria. The Perfect crater is 400 meters wide and 159 meters deep. The Volcanic core and crater are of international significance. In 1841 the Mount was described as thickly wooded with abundant kangaroos and small species.
The Mount was an important meeting and trading place for the traditional owners the Kirrae Wuurong people, who called it Ngoora. Other groups would come from the coast and as far away as Geelong to exchange goods.
