DESCRIBED BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1927 (RPE)
NO ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION. LOCATED ON POINT YBEL, THE EASTERNMOST
TIP OF SANIBEL ISLAND. IT CONSISTS OF A SQUARE, PYRAMIDAL,
SKELETON STEEL STRUCTURE ENCLOSING THE STAIR CYLINDER AND
HAVING THE LIGHTHOUSING AT THE TOP. THE LIGHT IS 98 FEET HIGH.
THE STEEL WORK IS PAINTED A REDDISH BROWN BUT APPEARS BLACK FROM A
MODERATE DISTANCE.

There are multiple other waymarks in this area and the lighthouse itself is included in the National Register of Historic Places.
