QD1071 - USGS P-34, Oregon - U.S. Benchmarks on Waymarking.com

This elevation mark is located along an abandoned section of the old Century Drive, about 22 miles west of Bend. The cap is set in a lava flow outcrop, about 30 feet south of the old road, now a winter ski trail. The cap was set by the U.S. Geological Survey in 1929 and was marked P-34. The mark is located about 0.25 miles NE of the present Cascade Lakes Highway which replaced the old Century Drive in about 1965.

DESCRIBED BY NATIONAL GEODETIC SURVEY 1963. 22.3 MILES SOUTHWEST ALONG CENTURY DRIVE FROM THE POST OFFICE AT BEND, 0.8 MILES WEST OF THE JUNCTION WITH THE ROAD GOING TO BACHELOR SKI LIFT, 30 FEET SOUTHWEST OF THE CENTER OF CENTURY DRIVE AND 2 FEET NORTH OF A METAL WITNESS POST IN A 2 BY 3 FOOT BOULDER THAT PROJECTS 4 INCHES.
