On 29th August 1803
work commenced on the
Tavistock Canal
John Taylor, surveyor and engineer.
This stone to commemorate the
Bi-centenary was laid by
Cllr Norma Woodcock, town mayor
on 29th August 2003

The granite plaque lies on a grassy area near the canal.
