Part of an area of limestone formed from coastal dunes about 300,000 years ago. The area contains more that 80 caves some of which are easily accessed and explored.
Access to the beacon is a via a track off Telegraph Road, which while a little rough, any 2WD vehicle with reasonable ground clearance should be able drive within 20m of the benchmark, I managed in a Mazda 121.
Alternatively it's only an easy couple of hundred metre walk from the Telegraph Road turn-off.
Official elevation is 91.4 metres
