"Across the road from these houses is the Grand Champ, which ex tends
east to the Mississippi River. The field was cultivated in the old manner as
late as 1907. - Missouri: A Guide to the "Show Me" State,
1941, pg 280.
Portions of the Grand Champ are still under cultivation. Portions of
the Grand Champ are listed on the National Register of Historic Places for the
archeological remains of the earlier Ste. Genevieve site.
