Privately owned. is on a VERY busy state highway, so find safe parking across street or in a small parking lot a few doors down. Home looked to be in fine condition. Grounds also looked to be well kept/work in progress from recent hurricanes. Large home, I had passed this many times, but never noticed it. I'm glad I have now. I did reserch on home, could not find much. Good history comes from the State Historical Marker, located in front of home... Queen Anne Revival style house built in 1898 by Roberta Volumnia Barrow Slatter. Constructed using materials from a house built on same site in 1854 by her parents noted Louisiana planter Robert Ruffin Barrow and Volumnia Hunley Barrow, sister of famed Confederate submariner Captian H.L. Hunley.
